“My First Curated Exhibition” is a project that allows students to explore the world of contemporary art while developing essential skills in curating and presenting artworks. In this engaging program, students take on the role of exhibition curators, guided by Djeilana Maksuti, Head of Audience Development, and are tasked with imagining an exhibition at Passages, a contemporary art center.
Hands-on artistic workshops led by Juliette Mock complement this immersive experience, guiding students through the entire process, from selecting artworks to presenting them to the public.
To broaden its reach, the project involves four classes: two CM2 (final-year primary) classes from Diderot and Jean Jaurès primary schools, supervised respectively by Thierry Courtin and Lucie Ostrowski, as well as students from Beurnonville and Pithou middle schools, supervised by Laëtitia Dellandrea and Vincent Odon.
As part of the project, students had the opportunity to discover two cultural institutions in their local and regional environment: Passages, a contemporary art center in Troyes, and the FRAC Champagne–Ardenne in Reims. In addition to exploring the venues and their collections, students were introduced to careers in cultural mediation, curating, exhibition-making, and art conservation.
