Outiller nos récits / Mascarade & Ruralité

COMING NEXT FROM 04.04.2025 TILL 30.04.2025
WITH: Wilfried Dsainbayonne, Damien Rouxel

The showcase exhibition of the Projet Artistique Globalisé (PAG) 2025 highlights the creations of students who worked alongside artists Damien Rouxel and Wilfried Dsainbayonne.

Outiller nos récits

Wilfried Dsainbayonne led a residency at Lycée polyvalent Les Lombards in Troyes in early 2025, working with students from the Première Bac Professionnel Technicien menuisier agenceur and Première Bac Professionnel Maintenance Systèmes de Productions Connectées programs as part of the PAG project “Outiller nos récits.”

As part of this educational initiative, the artist invited students to explore fundamental questions present in his work: what do objects reveal about us ? How can they carry historical, emotional, unique, or collective meaning? Can they help us redefine our relationship with the world? The goal was to question tools and their uses, allowing each student to engage with the artist’s approach and create a personal tool that reflects their identity and story.

Wilfried Dsainbayonne lives and works in Lille. In 2020, he co-founded a production space with Paul Ralu as part of the Saisons Zéro project in Roubaix. Designed as a place-tool for seven resident artists, this space fosters a collective approach to living and creating together.

Mascarade & Ruralité

As part of his off-site residency, Damien Rouxel collaborated with students from 4ème 5 and 4ème-3ème SEGPA at Collège Paul Portier, as well as students from 1ère Pro Maintenance des Matériels et des Véhicules at Lycée Professionnel du Val Moré in Bar-sur-Seine. His project, “Mascarade & Ruralité,” offers a contemporary exploration of carnival traditions, masks, and identity expression.

The upcoming exhibition will showcase the entire creative process, from initial sketches to final photographs, including all the students’ creations: masks, marottes (puppets or jesters’ heads), stretchers, and banners.

Damien Rouxel is a French visual artist and performer, born in 1993 and based in Quimper. A graduate of EESAB Quimper in 2015, he also earned a degree in Art History and Archaeology from UBO Quimper in 2018. His artistic practice intertwines gender, animality, and rurality through the lens of disguise and transformation.
