Julien Carreyn

FROM 01.01.2012 TILL 30.11.2012
WITH: Julien Carreyn

In 2010, Andra / Agence nationale pour la gestion des déchets radioactifs launched a major multidisciplinary project on the memory of radioactive waste disposal centers. Art is one of the avenues being explored. To this end, Andra has entered into a 3-year partnership with the Centre d’art contemporain / Passages de Troyes. It involves the funding of a grant and an artists’ residency in Troyes.

For 2012, the artist selected is Julien Carreyn, draughtsman and photographer. Particularly interested in old and rudimentary reproduction techniques, he favors drawing in an attempt to create a new language. By fusing multiple references, he produces works with a deceptively old-fashioned look.

His work has been exhibited at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard in Paris, the Musée d’art contemporain du Val-de-Marne in Vitry-sur-Seine, the Cneai / Centre national de l’estampe et de l’art imprimé in Chatou, most recently at the Frac / Fonds régional d’art contemporain Champagne-Ardenne in Reims and the Crèvecœur gallery in Paris.
